»Seestern« is a competition for non-commercial underwater filming and will take place in two categories: digital (up to two minutes) and video films (up to 20 minutes). Public contest Seestern is not a contest behind closed doors being taken out by a small circle of chosen. As to speak for the category »short films up to two minutes«, everybody can see the films taking part, and everybody can join the jury. From February to November 2010 you will find four short films on www. unterwasser.de every month, amongst which you may vote your favorite. In December, the users will vote amongst all the monthly winners their three best films of the year. Grand Jury · In addition to the users' price, all short films will also be judged by the official and independent Seestern jury under guidance of BDFA. Amongst all films presented on the website throughout the year, a first, second and third price will be awarded. Big Movies · All those who don't want to cut their films down to two minutes, who are willing and able to say and show more, all those can take part in the category »films up to 20 minutes«. As these films are too long for internet format, they will solely be judged by the official Seestern jury under guidance of BDFA. Please mind: the emphasis is on »up to«. Films may, but do not have to be 20 minutes long. This is just the absolute upper limit, and films of shorter runtime are more than welcome! Great Prizes · Winning films of each category are awarded exclusive high-value Seesternmedals in gold, silver and bronze handcrafted by Stefan Wiessmeyer. In addition to that, several special awards will be given away, like best score, best cut and others, endowing high value items. Each »filmer of the month« who made in onto the website will get a cd of gemafree music by Highland Musikarchiv worth 29,90 Euros. And of course, every participant of Seestern 2010 will be granted a certificate. In addition to that, outstanding films of German authors will be sent to the German Amateur Film Festival (DAFF), where they can qualify for the World Film Festival (UNICA). Participation at this most renowned festival in Germany is only possible with recommendation of the BDFA.
All prizes will be awarded at boot show 2011 in Düsseldorf.
